PLATFORM

1.         RESPOND TO OUR CITIZENS.  By restoring and accepting direct citizen complaints, the State's Attorney's Office will become a community resource agency.

2.         EDUCATE OUR COMMUNITY.  Establish a community outreach education program for adults and children that will educate adults and children about our criminal justice system, criminal laws, and public safety.

3.         FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY.  In just 2-˝ years under the current administration, the annual budget has increased by 20%.  We must hold the line on further budget increases.

4.         RETAIN ATTORNEYS.  Recruit, train and retain experienced attorneys in the State’s Attorney’s Office.  In just over 2-˝ years, there has been a 100% turn over of attorneys, which means a substantial loss of trial experience and institutional knowledge.  Now, most prosecutors in the State's Attorney's Office have less than two years experience.

5.         ASSIST VICTIMS.  Improve the State’s Attorney’s Victim Assistance programs to provide correct and timely information about pending criminal cases to victims of violent crime and their families.

6.        SUPPORT OUR POLICE.  Provide legal support for police officers in the field 24 hours per day, seven days per week with common-sense, experienced and pragmatic leadership.

7.        INVESTIGATE CRIME.  To assist our police agencies and respond to direct citizen complaints, build a professional criminal investigations unit targeting financial and computer crimes.

8.        CREATE A FIRST OFFENDER DIVERSION PROGRAM.  Establish a Non-Violent First Adult Offender’s Diversion Program, similar to existing programs in surrounding counties, to address non-violent criminal activity, while reducing the number of criminal cases reaching our over-crowded courtrooms.

9.        SEPARATE POLITICS AND PROSECUTION.  Create absolute separation between political activity and the State's Attorney's Office.
